All about Cookies on this site

This site uses two types of cookies.  Firstly, the forums use a type of cookie that allows you to stay logged in - i.e. it recognises your computer when you go from page to page or post to post, otherwise you'd have to log in each time you go to a different view on screen.  The cookie will generally be stored in the cookies folder on your computer - so if you clear the cookies folder or set your browser not to accept cookies, you're going to have problems.  The cookie does not give us any information about you or your computer, other than enabling the forum software to recognise your user name and log in credentials.

Secondly, many of the advertisements here use cookies.  A cookie, the type used by advertisers, doesn't store any personal information about you or your computer, but it does allow the advertiser to see where you were when you clicked on the link (i.e. the advertisement).  This is simply so that if you go on to buy something from one of our advertisers, we receive a small amount from the advertiser (or advertising agency) for that sale.  It's how this site, and many like it, pays for itself.

Please note also that some of the cookies have a "time limit" - i.e. if you click on a link now but don't buy anything for days, weeks or even months later, the advertiser still knows where it was you were first interested in their products or services and we get our small payment.  So, the cookie remains in the cookies folder on your computer.  If you decide to delete the cookies or set your browser not to accept cookies (which most Internet Browsers have the facility to do) then we don't get paid when you buy something.  If everyone did that, our site and sites like it would simply close.
